Erik C. Powell

EAST LONGMEADOW – Erik C. Powell, 52, passed away in his sleep on June 22, 2017. Born in Springfield, MA on October 7, 1964, he graduated from Springfield College with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. For 20 years, he worked for People’s Bank as a financial planner at many locations. He also was an antique dealer at Brimfield Antique Center. Erik served on the board for the East Longmeadow Baseball Association for many years and was a well- known and well-loved coach. His love for baseball continued on to the Boston Red Sox. His family will fondly remember him for being a devoted husband and father. Predeceased by his father Edward Panaia and his mother Charlene (Paulin) Powell, he leaves his wife Jane (Norris) Powell of East Longmeadow; son Ryan Powell; daughter Kate Powell; in-laws Richard and Marie Norris; brothers-in-law Bill, Richard, Dave and Jonathan Norris; sister in law Maria Norris as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will on Tuesday, June 27 from 8:30 – 10:30 AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Michael’s Parish, East Longmeadow.
