Evelyn L. O'Mara

SOUTHWICK – Evelyn L. (Herrmann) O’Mara, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Herrmann was born on August 8, 1928 in Stroudsburg, PA and passed away on August 4, 2017. Evelyn was raised in New York City and the Catskill Mountains in NY. A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City, she was employed by Gimbels Department Store as an illustrator. In 1950, Evelyn married John O’Mara and they moved to Springfield, MA where they raised their family. Evelyn was then employed by the Holyoke Transcript in the advertising department until her retirement. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband John O’Mara in 1997. Evelyn leaves behind her daughter Eileen O’Brien and her son John O’Mara and his wife Judy; four grandchildren Matthew O’Brien, Kristina Evans, Sean O’Mara and Andrea Nazzaro and two great grandchildren Gianna and Tyler. A service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11 AM in New Cemetery, College Highway, Southwick, MA. Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s memory to Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, P.O. Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753.
