Louise G. Bonavita

Springfield – Louise Germaine (Capozza) Bonavita, 85, beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away on June 16, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield and raised in the South End, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (D’Amore)Capozza. Louise graduated from High School of Commerce in 1949. She was a Senior Accountant for the City of Springfield Auditor’s Department for 10 years until she retired in 1997. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, member of the Italian Women’s Club and the Women’s Guild. Being a wife, mother and grandmother was her greatest joy. She will be dearly remembered for her kind, generous and loving nature, her great food and holiday traditions. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Anthony M. Bonavita who passed in 2001, and her cherished son, Thomas Bonavita who passed in 2016, and her brother Joseph Capozza. She leaves her son, Anthony Bonavita Jr. and his wife Laurie of Westfield, MA; her daughters, Maria Ottman and her husband, Scott of Chapel Hill, NC, and Andrea Tarpey and her husband Michael of Longmeadow; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Napoli of Springfield. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, June 19th from 4-8PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Louise’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20th from the funeral home at 7:45AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield at 9AM.
