Maurice F. Noonan

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Maurice F. Noonan, 82, of Old Saybrook, CT, beloved husband of Berthe (Ogg) Noonan on May 18, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Northampton, MA on July 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Francis and Frances (Pruzynski) Noonan. He served proudly in the Korean War in the US Army. He earned advanced degrees in English, German and Administration. He taught as an English teacher in Connecticut for over 30 years, including 20 years at Long Lane Correctional Institute and spent 2 years in Germany teaching English. In his retirement, he enjoyed his home near the beach, taking care of his beautiful yard, challenging himself with crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching sports events and Jeopardy. He also enjoyed travelling, reading, listening to music and artwork in all forms. Besides his wife of 59 years, Berthe, he leaves his children Karen and Victor Morais, Kim and Jarvis (Smitty) Smith, Erik, Mark and his partner Caroline, and Frank Drought and his partner Judy and his grandchildren Ryan Morais, Sabrina Morais, Angelina (Alex) Stackpole, and Adam Noonan. He is also survived by his sisters Bernice Andrews and Cindy Lefebvre and his brother William Noonan and their families, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Thursday May 25 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam, Ma, followed by a Funeral Home service at 12:30 pm. Burial with Military Honors will take place at 2 pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
