Alice J. Goodrich, 98, passed away on July 18, 2018. Born in Springfield on May 2, 1920 to the late Walter and Ethel (Nourse) Chandler, she attended local schools and was a 1939 graduate of the former Classical High School. She also attended American International College where she studied business.
Alice was employed for 19 years at American Saw and Manufacturing Company as an executive secretary before retiring in 1985. Prior to that, she co-owned with her husband Earl, Dairy Maid Ice Cream Shop in Palmer. She loved painting, bingo and reading in her spare time.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Earl H. Goodrich, who passed away October 29, 2007; son Kenneth Goodrich; daughter Phyllis Manzi as well as one sister. To cherish her memory, she leaves her sons Ronald Goodrich (Kathy) of Hatfield and Douglas Goodrich (Linda) of Springfield; daughters Martha Nulph (Cliff) of Monson, Roberta Sheltra of Springfield, Dorothy Ingram (Don) of Jacksonville and Gwendolyn Lennox (John) of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren as well as 6 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 11 AM – 12 Noon at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA followed by a service at 12 Noon.
