Barclay Hamill, 87, passed away on April 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 12, 1930 to the late James and Margaret (Cragie) Hamill and was a graduate of Agawam High School.
From 1952 – 1954, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. For over 30 years, he was employed as an installer and repairman at New England Telephone Co. / AT&T before retiring at the age of 60 and was member of the AT&T Pioneers. Barclay loved sailing and was known for building a beautiful lap pool in his backyard with his sons. He was also an active member of Foster Memorial Church in Springfield where he was a former Deacon.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother James C. Hamill. To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara (Mutti); sons Barclay J. Hamill and his wife Sari of Prescott, Arizona, Bryan C. Hamill and his wife Lynne of Wilbraham and Barry K. Hamill and his wife Elizabeth of Chelmsford, MA as well as his grandchildren David Evans, Corey, Ashley, Allison, Kelsey, Garren, Kyle and Casey Hamill.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5 – 7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral and Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. A memorial service will be on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11 AM at the Foster Memorial Church 1791 Wilbraham Rd. Springfield. Burial with military honors will be held in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 3 PM.
