Obituary



East Longmeadow – Carolyn Ann (Ouellette) Racicot, 67, passed away on April 21, 2018 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She was born in Springfield January 1, 1951. Carolyn was pre-deceased by her parents, Donald and Edith (Jordan) Ouellette. A 1968 graduate of East Longmeadow High School Carolyn went on to earn a B.A. in English from UMass in 1972. Carolyn’s true passion was painting, and was a talented artist. Carolyn had a gift for gardening and took great pleasure from her flowers, vegetables and fish ponds. She was the co-owner of The Saw Center Inc. in Springfield, MA for over 40 years. Carolyn was a devoted caregiver for her parents in their later years and became the matriarch of the family and was someone who always put everyone first before herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Ed Racicot; her children, Christiana Racicot of East Longmeadow, Alexander Racicot and his wife Ammelia of Springfield, and Devin Racicot and his wife Tara of Middletown, CT; a brother, Peter Ouellette and his wife Beth of Easthampton; and a sister, Donna Zimmerman and her husband Carl of East Longmeadow. She also leaves her beloved dogs, Lena and TiLou; and her grand-kitty and constant companion Luna. The family wants to thank Dr. Ochs, Nurse Katie, the nursing staff at Mercy Infusion, and the nurses of Mercy Post Op who stayed with us during a difficult time. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 30th from 4-7PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Carolyn’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 1st from the funeral home at 8:45AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow at 10AM. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. Carolyn loved animals and nature, and had a beautiful appreciation for all living things.
