Dina Grossi

WEST HARTFORD, CT – Dina Grossi, 95, passed away on May 11, 2019. Born in Ardenno, Italy on June 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Assunta Pomoli. Besides her parents, Dina was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Guido Grossi, who passed away in 2011. To cherish her memory, she leaves her children, Ida Shea and her husband James of Glastonbury, CT, Irma Roy and her husband Daniel of Farmington, CT, Aldo Grossi and his wife Jacky of Wallingford, PA and Joanne Jackson and her husband Patrick of Horseheads, NY; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and her brother, Omero Pomoli & wife Lina of Ardenno, Italy. “Nonna” as she was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was renowned for her gardening (which provided the key ingredients for her homemade tomato sauce), and for her culinary expertise including her world-famous lasagna and meatballs.  She was also an expert knitter whose warm blankets will be a lasting reminder for all of us of how much she loved her family.  Nonna traveled around the world with her husband and best friend, Nonno, and made friends wherever she went.  She was kind, generous and sweet, but also incredibly courageous and hardworking in building a new life and raising her family in the United States.  She was the quintessential Italian grandmother, who was so proud of her family, and who we all will miss dearly. Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA.
