Edward M. Slepski

September 11, 1941 ~ April 15, 2024 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Obituary

Edward “Ed” M. Slepski, cherished husband and father, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024 after a short illness. He was 82 years old.
Born in Chicago, IL, Ed graduated from the College of St Thomas (MN) in 1963, where he met the love of his life, Lorraine. Ed and Lorraine Slepski shared 60 years of love, laughter, cherished memories, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
In addition to his role as a loving husband, Ed was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He was proud of his work in developing environmentally friendly coatings at Fibermark, (formerly Rexham Graphics and James River Graphics), where he retired as Vice President of Research and Development. Ed was a fan of all of his grandchildren’s sports teams, while being a converted supporter of the UConn Huskies Women’s basketball team. Ed enjoyed woodworking, hunting, target shooting and was an ardent fisherman who boated many trophy fish with his son and grandson often as witness. Lake Trout across the Northeast, and Newfoundland’s moose can rest easy knowing that Ed has completed his mission on Earth. Ed's passion for his hobbies was only matched by his adoration for cats, leaving behind Freddie and Abigail who already miss him so much.
Ed is survived by his dear wife, Lorraine Slepski, his loving children, Janelle and Jonathon (Anne) Slepski, his adoring grandchildren, Theodore, Alexandra and Anastasia Slepski, his sister Karen (Tony) Zilis, and his many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Baystate Medical Center Katz Oncology Unit for their care and compassion in his final days.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Ed's life will be held on April 22, 2024 at 11:30am at St Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow MA. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St Springfield MA, in Ed's honor.
Though Ed may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was dearly loved and will be forever remembered.
His care is entrusted to Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, East Longmeadow MA. To leave an online condolence visit www.forastiere.com.
