1959 – 2021

East Longmeadow – Gregory Popovich, 61, passed away after a brief illness on April 29, 2021. Greg was born in Pittsburgh PA on June 24, 1959 to his parents Charles and Frances (Kish) Popovich. After high school, Greg graduated from UMass with his Bachelor’s Degree and went on to WNEC to achieve his Master’s Degree. Greg immediately started his career in banking, and through the years he worked at many different institutions. He most recently worked in Commercial Lending at Webster Bank. Greg was loved by many, and he truly enjoyed all the close relationships he made networking in the banking industry over the years. He will be remembered for being an easy going and humble man, who enjoyed fishing trips to the Swift River in Belchertown and Lake Winnipesauke in NH. He was a great dad, and an amazing family man. He will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 36 years Carol (Piechota) Popovich of East Longmeadow, his sons Brian Popovich of Longmeadow and Gary Popovich and his wife Heidi of Longmeadow, his extended family Craig and Collette Vogel and their daughter Hannah Vogel. Greg’s family would like to sincerely thank Mercy Hospital and its staff for their tender care and assistance. Services are entrusted to Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation and will be private.
