It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jim) F. Harnois of Agawam, MA from a stroke on May 29, 2020, at the age of 75. Jim was born in Springfield on January 15, 1945, he was the son of the late George R. and Alice Harnois. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricla, son and daughter-in-law James F. and Meghan Harnois Jr of Feeding Hills, his brother George and his wife Virginia of East Waterboro, ME, and his sister MaryEllen and her husband William Theroux of Williamsburg, VAand his beloved grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Ethan Russell, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jim grew up in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and attended Cathedral High School through sophomore year. His family had moved to Agawam, where he played Center on the Football Team until his graduation in 1963. Jim was an active member of the Agawam Auxiliary Police, and then served in the United States Air Force. After, Jim met the love of his life Pat, he was stationed in Hawaii where their son Jimmy was born. During his career in the Air Force, he was stationed in many different states and completed his service at Offut Air Force Base, where he worked at Strategic Command. Jim received his Associates degree at Asnuntuck Community College in Connecticut, and his Bachelor’s at Westfield State University. He worked at Coleco and Casual Corner until his retirement. During his retirement years, Jim liked to keep busy. He loved spending time with Pat and his grandchildren. Pat and Jim would take many road trips including Vermont, The Finger Lakes and Lancaster, PA. They loved to spend time together and he would do anything for her. When his grandchildren had a concert, a marching band performance at halftime, a pee wee football game, he would come see it. He was so proud of them. Jim was also Committee Member and very active at the Mawaga Sportsman Club in Agawam. Whenever they had their monthly meetings, his son Jimmy and grandson Ethan would go with him to have dinner and spend time together. Jim also loved to play golf. He was in a league that would play weekly. At an early age, Jim prayed the Rosary with his family every night at 7pm. Jim was a parishioner at St. John's where he would go daily to continue praying the Rosary. Jim was loved and will be missed by so many.
