Janet M. Porter

COLCHESTER, CT – Janet Marie (Tichy) Porter, 56, passed away on January 17, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Westfield, MA on April 18, 1962 to William J. Tichy and the late Janet M. (Brissette) Lafleur, she attended Southwick High School. She was a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, a nominee of the Emerald Shield Award, and a recipient of the D.A.R Good Citizen Award. Over her working career, Janet was employed at many companies including Hamilton, Kaman, The Hartford Courant, Wallace Law Registry, TyMetrix and most recently Wolters Kluwer. She had also worked at Ebbs Corner and The Brass Rail in Southwick. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to Misquamicut Beach, card playing, reading and music. Her musical taste spread across several genres and she was an amateur harmonica and accordion player. She also had a talent for being creative and creating Angel Cards in hopes of making people feel better during difficult times. As for the outdoors, she enjoyed hiking and riding her bicycle. Janet’s family and co-workers will always fondly remember and treasure how hardworking, goal driven, passionate and honest she was. To cherish her memory, she leaves her loving husband Robert J. Porter, Jr.; children Lindsey Marie Porter and Joseph Patrick Porter; father William J. Tichy as well as her siblings Robert and Michael Tichy and Deborah Baringer. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 4 – 8 PM at Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 beginning at 8:45 AM followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, Sheep Pasture Rd. Southwick, MA.
