SPRINGFIELD - Kathleen “Candy” (Kane) Luchini, 73, of Springfield, MA, passed away on Thursday, May 10 at Baystate Hospital. She passed away unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by her loving family, which is exactly how she wanted it. “Candy” was born in Springfield, MA on August 27, 1944. She was the daughter of hard-working Irish parents, Francis and Mary Claire (MacIntyre) Kane. She was affectionately called “Candy Kane” throughout her childhood growing up on Breckwood Blvd. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1962. She went on to work as an administrative assistant for Congressman Edward Boland in his congressional office in downtown Springfield. During this time, she met the love of her life Richard “Richie” Luchini. They married in 1971 and moved to East Longmeadow, MA where they raised four children. For 47 years, Candy was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and Grandmother. She was passionate about her family and especially her grandkids. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, loved reading books, especially the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series and was an avid card player. She was always up for a fun game of War or Crazy Eight with her kids and grandkids. In addition to her husband Richie of 47 years, Candy now watches over her daughter Angela Catanzarite and her husband Joel, her daughter Mary Kate Langone and her husband Michael, her son Brian Luchini and his wife Katie, and her youngest daughter Bridget Boucher and her husband Erik; her nine grandchildren; Olivia and Emma Catanzarite, Nina and Sarah Langone, Molly, Lilly and Charlotte Luchini, and Joseph and Brooke Boucher. She is also survived by her brother Daniel Kane and his partner Diane Elander of Springfield, MA. She is predeceased by her parents Francis and Mary Claire (MacIntyre) Kane. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jackie and Harvey Morrison for being truly devoted friends in prayer. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow.
