Maurice Daniel Martin

It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Maurice Daniel Martin announces his sudden and unexpected passing on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home in East Longmeadow.
Moe, the son of the late Daniel and Margaret Martin, was born and raised in Springfield until 1972 when he moved to East Longmeadow. He was a 1962 graduate of the former Cathedral High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree from American International College and a Master’s Degree from Westfield State College. Moe was employed by the City of Springfield both as a teacher and counselor for over thirty years. In his retirement, he volunteered at East Longmeadow High School; and most recently, at Central High School.
His professional life was devoted to countless students that he always saw the good in and wanted to help.
Moe was predeceased by his sister Maryann Milton in 1982. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of forty nine years Christine Martin; their sons Stephen Martin and his wife Ann, and John Martin and his wife Amy. He also leaves the greatest joy and pride of his life; his four grandchildren, Caidan, Rowan, Grace, and Quinn.
Moe’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 beginning at 8:30AM from Forastiere Smith Funeral Home on 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church on Maple Street in East Longmeadow at 10AM. His burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. His calling hours are on Monday, October 8th from 3-6PM.
