Obituary

Russell C. Jacobs, III, 44, of Springfield passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 10, 2019. Russell was born August 26, 1975 in Springfield MA to Russell, Jr. and Dorothy (Andersen) Jacobs. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield and attended Springfield Schools. Russell, known by most as Russ, was employed by Good Neighbor Fence Co and previously by Parker Acoustics Incs. He was an active volunteer for Pedal Thru Youth in Springfield MA and The Lazy K Ranch in West Kingston, RI. He would talk non-stop about the joy he received from working with both groups. He was an avid fisherman and loved to be on the water, in the outdoors or sitting by the fire laughing and making memories. He will be remembered by most for his ability to make people laugh, his willingness to help and his love for life. Russell is survived by his children Kyle Jacobs of Apopka, FL and his daughter Reina Jacobs of East Longmeadow, MA. He leaves behind his parents Russell, Jr. and Dorothy Jacobs; his sister Elaine Connor and her husband Sean; his beloved nephews Justis Connor and his wife Rebecca, Michael Newman and his partner Indiara Kenney and Ashton Connor and a great-nephew Adrian Newman. Besides his family, he leaves behind his girlfriend Athena Hunter and many friends who loved him and cherished his friendship greatly especially Daniel Wright, Steven Mangine, Jr., John Lysak, Aaron Hunter, Irving Hillard, and Alan and Ann Kingsley. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 20 from 4-7pm at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. There will be a Celebration of Life following at Nathan Bill’s, Thomas J Sullivan Banquet Hall, 112 Island Pond Road, Springfield MA 01118.
