William L Dixon Jr.

EAST LONGMEADOW- William “Bill” L. Dixon, Jr., 86, passed away at JGS Lifecare of Longmeadow on May 18, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Quincy, MA on April 16, 1933 to the late William and Alice (Nickerson) Dixon. He was a proud graduate of North Quincy High, and served in the Naval Reserve. Bill worked for many years as a manager for AT&T overseeing the majority of the Northeast territory. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, an active member of the East Longmeadow Lions Club, as well as the Wilbraham Country Club, serving on the Board of Directors for both organizations. He will be remembered for his love of golf, amazing sense of humor, and his strong love for his family. Bill was predeceased by his parents; his wife and the love of his life Caryl (Perry) Dixon; and his daughter-in-law Anitra Kling. To cherish his memory he leaves his children Janet Carlyle and her husband Michael of Wilbraham, MA; Paul Dixon of Woodstock, GA; and Susan Lowd and her husband David of Ashland, MA; as well as his brother Robert Dixon and his wife Peggy of Plainville, MA. Bill also leaves his grandchildren Kimberly Driscoll and her husband Chris of East Longmeadow; Stephanie Cadorette and her husband David of Bellingham, MA; Sarah Carlyle and fiancé Zach Laskey of Coventry, CT; Brandon Kling of Atlanta, GA; Steven Lowd of Ft. Campbell, KY; and Michael Lowd of Ashland, MA; great-grandchildren Mikaela Driscoll, Emma Driscoll, Felicity Cardorette, and Baby girl Cadorette on the way; as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will take place from 4PM until 7PM on Thursday, May 23 at the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A funeral home service will be held on Friday, May 24, beginning at 10AM with an hour of visitation preceding. Burial will follow in Billings Hill Cemetery, East Longmeadow.
